The Brecon Beacons are a mountain range in South Wales (the name refers to the range of old red sandstone peaks popular with walkers). The range of mountains form the central part of the Brecon Beacon National Park.
I dug out my old maps and compass, packed my backpack, jumped in the car and headed off... looking foward to being in the middle of nowehere. The good thing with the Brecons is that they are only about 1.5 hours away, so the drive was refreshingly quick and I had arrived for breakfast (again, many of you that know me know that food plays quite a high priority part in my life).
The location of the cottage was in a hamlet nearby Talybont-On-Usk, a very attractive welsh village in the Usk valley.
Before I go any further, I thought it would be only fitting to share at least a small handful of pics of the cottage that I stayed in during the holiday. It was a dream location, and so inviting and comfortable. I will definitely be staying there again.
A view from the front...
and the view from the back garden (with an idyllic babbling brook at the bottom of the garden)....
The lounge....
An evening view from one of the lounge windows...
The kitchen/diner...
And of course the bedrooms....
And yes, I was spoilled for choice with which bedroom to use. Usually I am stuck in a tent or some form of hostel/travel lodge, so it was rather luxurious to have three bedrooms to choose from.
To be continued........
