Weathered though time...

I still have to sit down and work my way through most of my photographs from my holiday. However, I just wanted to share this one with you now. It has to be one of my favourite photographs from the whole trip.

Weathered through time v1

There is something I love about the colour and the texture of the stonework, and the peeling paint on the door. Stood in front of the door, my mind was swimming with wonder about the stories this little cottage could tell about the events that have taken place over the years. A little piece of history that has been battered by the winds of time.

I think this is the most remarkable photo I've ever seen. I COMPLETELY thought it was a painting you had done until I read further. I cannot believe this one. You have such a good eye. I can see why it is your favorite. Even once I read that it was a photo, I STILL could not see that it wasn't a painting. Then I saw the pipe in the wall on the right of the door and realized that is the only thing that give it away....a little bit. Lucky you that you saw this and were able to photograph it.

My dear friend, have you ever thought of putting some of your photos on a National Geographic (NG) MY SHOT page? Here is the link: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/myshot

There is also a NG page called YOUR SHOT where you can enter to have your photo go into an NG issue. This is the link: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/submit

You have some truly wonderful and unique photos here. Even your marble or food photos...any of them. You are so talented.

Loved your comments...so sincere and heartfelt...like you! I will be in touch as soon as there is a bit of a lull. It is so good to have you back.

Hugs to you my good friend,
Robin

It reminds me a bit of Latin America's houses. Lots of paint, lots of colors and "natural" materials such as wood.

The light and colors are amazing... good eye!

This is stunning and I echo the comments already made, that it looks like a painting. Wonderful!

Robin, thank you so much for such kind words. To be honest, it was again another photograh where all I had to do was hold the camera up and press the shutter, the wall and door did all the hard work. I have signed up with NG, thanks for the encouragement. I will definitely let you know how things progress. Once again, thank you so much for your kind words.

Liss, thanks :) I love this photo too and it is going to take pride and place in my new house (once I find one...lol!)

Janette, awww thank you :)

Jessica WW, the whole house was wonderful, it had so much to say - so much character and feeling. I'm glad the photograph was able to show some of that feeling.

Wow...intense!
This is a typical house of Alentejo and Algarve (white and blue): because of the heat!

These little cottages are so cute, and inside they are really charming...a great idea is to buy these old cottages and refurbish them, bringing thus some of its past life back (good appearance at least; cause past stories of people's lives are impossible to bring back...those remain buried in time)!

Congratulations!

I want this one blown up so I can matte it (I do my own these days) and frame it and put it in my living room. This one speaks to me. I love it.

As always, a prominent display of your talent.

Creatively,
Kimberly
